Klaviyo
Before exploring this article, make sure you read the article on how to create an embed content here. If you have read carefully and understand how to create embedded content, let's get started with us.
There are two ways to use embed content in Klaviyo:
- Sync to Klaviyo (recommended): Doran saves the embed content in Klaviyo for you.
- Copy and paste manually: paste the HTML into a Klaviyo email yourself.
Sync to Klaviyo (recommended)
Syncing saves your embed content in Klaviyo as Universal Content, so you can reuse it in any email or flow without copying code.
You need to connect Klaviyo to Doran first. If you haven't, follow this guide to create an API key and connect it in Settings > Integrations.
Generate embed content
Open your widget and generate the embed content for it, as described in Embed content. Make sure you generate it for the layout you want in your emails.
Click Sync to Klaviyo
In the generate embed content form, click the Sync to Klaviyo button. If Klaviyo is not connected yet, you will see a Connect Klaviyo first message with a Go to Integrations button that takes you straight to the settings.
Name your Universal Content
Enter a Universal Content name (up to 100 characters). By default, we use your widget title.
Doran saves two blocks in Klaviyo using this name:
- [Desktop] your name
- [Mobile] your name
Click Sync
Click Sync and wait for the success message Synced to Klaviyo. You can open each block directly from the links Open desktop version in Klaviyo and Open mobile version in Klaviyo.
Use it in your email
In Klaviyo, open the email you want to edit. In the editor, go to Content > Universal content, then drag the [Desktop] block to where you want the videos to appear.
To show the right version on each device, add the [Mobile] block as well and set the visibility of each block (Hide on mobile for the desktop block, Hide on desktop for the mobile block) in the block's settings.
Update after you change your widget
If you change your widget (for example, add or remove videos) and generate the embed content again, open Sync to Klaviyo once more. The modal shows when it was last synced, and the button changes to Update. Click it to update the existing Universal Content.
Updating Universal Content changes the block everywhere it is used. Emails that are already sent are not affected, but drafts and scheduled campaigns use the updated version.
Troubleshooting
Copy and paste manually
If you prefer, or you are not on the Unlimited plan, you can paste the generated embed content directly into a Klaviyo email.
Open an email in Klaviyo
In Klaviyo, open the campaign, flow email, or template you want to edit in the drag-and-drop editor.
Add embed content for desktop
Now, add the embed content for desktop to your email. Drag the HTML block to where you want the embed content to appear. Next, paste the embed content there.
Another very important step is to hide this block on mobile, so it only shows on desktop.
Add embed content for mobile
Because Klaviyo supports both desktop and mobile versions, you may also add the embed content for mobile to your email.
