Omnisend
If you send emails with Omnisend, you can connect your Omnisend account to Shoppable Videos and sync your video embed content to it with one click. No more copying and pasting HTML: the embed content is saved in Omnisend as Universal layouts that you can drop into any email.
This guide explains what you need before you start, how to create an Omnisend API key, and how to connect it to Doran.
How it works
When you sync a widget's embed content, Shoppable Videos creates two Universal layouts in your Omnisend account:
- [Desktop] your-name: the embed content for desktop.
- [Mobile] your-name: the embed content for mobile.
If you sync the same widget again, the existing layouts are updated instead of creating new ones.
Shoppable Videos only needs permission to manage Email templates in Omnisend. It does not read your contacts, campaigns, or orders, and it does not send emails for you.
Before you start
- You have an Omnisend account and can create API keys (Owner, Admin, or a role with access to API keys).
- You are on the Unlimited plan of Shoppable Videos.
- You have created a widget. Embed content is generated per widget, see Embed content.
Step 1: Create an API key in Omnisend
Log in to Omnisend, then go to Store settings > Integrations & API > API keys.
Click Create API key.
Enter a name you will recognize later, for example Doran Shoppable Videos.
Choose custom permissions, then set Email templates to Read and Write. You can leave every other permission unselected.
Click Create, then copy the key.
Omnisend only shows the full API key once. Copy it right away and keep it secret. Do not share it publicly or paste it anywhere except the Doran app.
Step 2: Connect Omnisend in Doran
In your Shopify admin, open Doran Shoppable Videos > Settings > Integrations.
Find the Omnisend section and toggle Enable Omnisend integration to On.
Paste your key into the API key field. Doran checks the key automatically: you will see "Validating API key..." and then "API key is valid".
Click Save.
Once saved, the field is replaced by Connected with API key. For your security, the full key is never shown again.
Step 3: Sync your embed content
You are ready to go. Open a widget, generate its embed content, and click Sync to Omnisend. The full walkthrough is in Integrate Omnisend with embed content.
Replace or remove the API key
- Replace the key: paste a new key into the API key field and click Save. The old key is overwritten.
- Disconnect: click Delete next to Connected with API key. Content you already synced stays in Omnisend, but new syncs are not possible until you connect again.
- Turning the Enable Omnisend integration switch off hides the sync option until you turn it back on.
