Back in Stock & PreorderIntegrationsShopify Sidekick

Shopify Sidekick

Ask Shopify Sidekick about back in stock requests, notifications, subscribers, and revenue in plain language, right inside your Shopify admin.

What is Shopify Sidekick?

Sidekick is the AI assistant built into your Shopify admin. Doran: Back in Stock—Preorder connects to Sidekick, so you can ask about restock demand, notification delivery, subscribers, and performance in plain language, without hunting through menus.

For example, type "Which products do customers want back in stock?" and Sidekick looks up your store's data and answers, with links that open the matching page in Doran.

Sidekick can only read your Back in Stock data. It cannot send, retry, edit, or delete any notification or subscriber. Any change still has to be made by you in the Doran admin.

Example prompts

  • "Which products do customers want back in stock?"
  • "Which product has the most back in stock requests?"
  • "Did jane@example.com sign up for a restock alert on this product?"
  • "Show failed back in stock notifications."
  • "Is jane@example.com subscribed to back in stock alerts?"
  • "Show unsubscribed back in stock contacts."
  • "How are my back in stock notifications performing?"
  • "How much revenue came from restock alerts this month?"
  • "Which products sell best from restock alerts?"

Notifications vs. subscribers

  • Ask about a notification when you care about one specific sign-up and its delivery status, for example one customer on one product.
  • Ask about a subscriber when you care about the person across all their sign-ups, for example whether they are still subscribed to marketing.

Good to know

  • Results come in pages: if there are more results, Sidekick will ask whether you want to see more instead of loading everything at once.
  • Performance reports need a plan with the back in stock report feature: otherwise Sidekick will tell you the report needs an upgrade and can point you to the app's subscription page.
  • Sidekick doesn't guess: it only filters by the products, emails, phone numbers, or statuses you mention.
  • Your data only: Sidekick only sees the store you are currently signed in to.

Troubleshooting

Sidekick doesn't mention my back in stock data. Make sure Doran: Back in Stock—Preorder is installed on the store, then include "back in stock" or "Doran" in your question.

I'm asked to upgrade. Performance and revenue reports are not included in your current plan. Open the app's subscription page to upgrade, then ask again.
